Comedy Heights had one of those weekends that reminds you why live comedy works best in a real room, with real people, on a real stage where anything can happen.
Friday and Saturday night, Chris Clobber brought exactly the kind of headliner energy Comedy Heights audiences love, experienced, loose, unpredictable, and completely his own. Chris doesn’t feel like a comic trying to fit into the usual stand-up lane. He takes the weird road, the side road, the road with animal noises, left turns, and surprise exits, and somehow brings the audience right along with him. His set had the confidence of someone who has been doing this a long time, but it never felt stale. It felt alive.
The supporting lineups kept the room moving with a strong mix of voices and styles. Comedy Heights always works best when the show feels less like a lineup and more like a night out, and this weekend had that feeling, comics feeding off the room, crowds leaning in, and the kind of relaxed Adams Avenue energy that makes Lestat’s feel like a comedy clubhouse.
Saturday had an extra spark because of Adams Ave. Unplugged. The early LaughPac Show gave the night a festival feel, fast, fresh, and fun, before the main Comedy Heights show closed the evening with Chris Clobber and the full lineup. It was a smart format, new comics getting a real room, regular audiences getting more comedy, and the whole night feeling bigger than a standard Saturday show.
Then Sunday’s LaughPac Showcase gave the weekend a perfect final beat. The LaughPac comics brought heart, hustle, and that great developing-comic energy where you can feel people taking swings, finding laughs, and growing right in front of the audience. That is one of the best things Comedy Heights does, it gives newer comics a place that feels supportive without feeling sleepy. The room still expects laughs, and that pressure is good for everybody.
Overall, it was a strong Comedy Heights weekend: a veteran headliner with a truly original voice, solid feature comics, a lively Adams Avenue crowd, and a LaughPac Showcase that showed why local comedy keeps growing when it has a real stage to grow on.
Big thanks to Chris Clobber, the LaughPac comics, the full lineup, Lestat’s, and everyone who came out to support live comedy in San Diego. Comedy Heights keeps proving that you don’t need a giant theater to have a great comedy night, sometimes all you need is a good room, good comics, and a crowd ready to laugh.
