Three Feature Comics Take Over Comedy Heights This Weekend at Lestat’s on Adams Ave.

This Friday and Saturday night, Comedy Heights at Lestat’s on Adams Ave brings another strong weekend of stand-up to Normal Heights, featuring three comics with completely different voices, backgrounds, and ways of getting a room laughing. This weekend’s featured performers are Matt Duckett, Nick Malizia, and Stephen Cha. Joining them are Sammy Cantu and Comedy Heights own Al Gavi. It is the kind of lineup Comedy Heights does best: smart, personal, unpredictable, and built for a room where the audience is close enough to feel every punchline.

Matt Duckett is a comedian and writer whose comedy is fueled by his biracial background, sharp point of view, and the kind of life choices that make great material later — including an ill-advised law school stint that he is apparently still paying for. His comedy covers everything from growing up in a so-called “post-racial” society to the strange realities of modern identity, family, debt, and trying to make sense of the world without losing your mind. Matt’s videos have earned over 1.5 million likes on TikTok, where he has built a following of more than 45,000 fans. He has performed at major clubs including the Hollywood Improv and The Comedy Store, and has appeared at festivals across the country including Riot Comedy Fest in Houston and Rise Festival in Denver.

Nick Malizia brings a different kind of energy to the stage. Originally from San Luis Obispo, Nick turns embarrassing moments, odd family dynamics, customer service stories, and life in different states into witty, quirky comedy that audiences can immediately connect with. His style is personal without being heavy, weird without being alienating, and sharp without trying too hard. Nick has performed at Don’t Tell Comedy and Flapper’s Comedy Club, and he brings the kind of storytelling that makes audiences feel like they are laughing with someone who has lived through a lot of awkward moments and somehow made all of them useful.

Stephen Cha is a stand-up comedian and writer from Los Angeles whose comedy is self-reflective, relatable, and rooted in his experiences growing up as the first U.S.-born citizen in his family and the eldest son of Korean-American immigrant parents. His comedy comes from the tension between home, culture, expectations, and the outside world — but he keeps it funny, accessible, and honest. Stephen regularly performs at clubs in Los Angeles and has also performed in cities across the country, including New York, San Francisco, and Oakland. His credits include The Comedy Store, The Hollywood Improv, The Ice House, Flappers Comedy Club, and Broadway Comedy Club.

Together, Matt Duckett, Nick Malizia, and Stephen Cha give Comedy Heights a weekend lineup with range: sharp social observation, awkward personal storytelling, and thoughtful comedy about family, identity, and trying to survive adulthood without becoming completely ridiculous.

The show starts at 8 PM both Friday and Saturday, with doors opening at 7:30 PM. As always, Comedy Heights at Lestat’s keeps it simple: a great comedy room, a strong lineup, and a $5 cover that converts to same-day Lestat’s Café credit.

Come early, grab a seat, and enjoy one of San Diego’s best live comedy deals.
