Comedy Heights is back this Friday and Saturday, August 21 and 22, with Jason Kaye and Kristy Matsutani leading a lineup that should make for two very different—and very funny—nights at Lestat’s.
Jason Kaye is one of those performers whose résumé makes you wonder when he sleeps. He’s a comedian, actor and musician, winner of Dana Carvey’s First Impressions, a voice performer on The Powerpuff Girls and numerous video games, and has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Gong Show. He’s also a Groundlings Sunday Company alum and guitarist for the comedy-rock band American Galactic.
Then there’s Kristy Matsutani, whose comedy proves that sometimes the darkest roads lead to the funniest stories. Kristy brings quick wit, self-deprecation and dark humor to material drawn from an extraordinary life that includes growing up in a Japanese-American household, foster care, mental hospitals and, remarkably, 16 funerals. It’s comedy with a point of view you’re not likely to hear from anyone else.
Joining them are Dan Yourg and Adam Macias, with Tony Garcia on Friday and Al Gavi on Saturday.
That’s a pretty wide comedy spectrum packed into one little room—which is exactly what makes Comedy Heights fun. You’re not coming to hear five versions of the same comic. You’re getting different backgrounds, different styles and different ways of finding the funny.
