Some comedy nights are built around one comic. This past weekend at Comedy Heights felt more like an ensemble show, with each performer adding something different to the mix. Dave Callans headed up Friday and Saturday at Lestat’s, bringing his unapologetic point of view and darker comic instincts to the room. Dave has a way of taking thoughts most people would probably keep to themselves and turning them into something an audience can laugh at together. But the weekend was not just about the headliner. Ashley Chalease, Benny Garcia and Lena Stone each brought their own personalities and approaches to the stage, giving the shows a steady change of pace from one set to the next. That kind of lineup makes for a better night because the audience never gets too comfortable with one style of comedy. It was a fitting way for Comedy Heights to close out the month of August.  Thanks to Dave Callans, Ashley Chalease, Benny Garcia and Lena Stone, and especially to everyone who came out and gave the comics the most important thing any stand up show needs: People willing to laugh.
