Comedy Heights only had one shot this past weekend. With Saturday dark for the Adams Avenue Street Fair, everything landed on Friday night at Lestat’s.

And Friday handled the assignment.

Laurence Francis, Anna Mae Gordon and Mazdak Momen gave the show three very different personalities right from the start. Laurence brought the local San Diego perspective, Anna Mae brought years of experience from stages around the country and overseas, and Mazdak once again proved there is apparently plenty of material hiding somewhere between software engineering, inflation and everyday life. Ryan Archuleta, Ralph Waxman and Al Gavi rounded out the lineup, giving the audience six comedians and six different ways of looking at the world. There was something fun about having only one show this weekend. No Saturday reset. No second chance. Everybody showed up Friday knowing this was it. One room. One microphone. One night. Then Saturday, Adams Avenue belonged to the Street Fair. For Friday night, it belonged to the comedians.
