That sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it’s actually this weekend’s Comedy Heights lineup at Lestat’s on Adams Ave. Bob Hansen comes to the stage with a background you don’t run into very often in stand up. Before comedy, Bob was a professional wrestler, trained by WWE legend Afa “The Wild Samoan,” and even won the San Diego Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship in 2010. These days he’s a regular performer at the La Jolla Comedy Store and appears on its Best of San Diego showcase. Sharing the weekend is Lisa Gilbert, a San Diego comedian whose storytelling style has taken her around the country performing in comedy clubs, churches and corporate events. She has also been recognized as one of the Comedy Store’s “Best Of” performers and has her own Dry Bar Comedy special. Also joining the shows are JP Connolly on Friday, Dan Yourg on Saturday, and Al Gavi both nights.

So this weekend we’ve got a former heavyweight champion, a national touring storyteller and three more comedians ready to make their case for your Friday or Saturday night.It’s Halloween weekend. You can spend the night paying too much money to stand in a crowded bar dressed like somebody from Bridgerton. Or you can come to Lestat’s and laugh. Bring somebody with you. Let’s fill the room.
