The calendar says summer is winding down. Comedy Heights apparently did not get the memo. This Friday and Saturday, August 28 and 29, Dave Callans takes over the Comedy Heights stage at Lestat’s for two nights of stand up, joined by Ashley Chalease, Benny Garcia and Lena Stone.

Dave grew up in the suburbs of Detroit before deciding that a lifetime without adequate sunshine was reason enough to escape to San Diego. His comedy has a habit of wandering into darker territory, which, according to Dave, has already cost him several therapists. He performs regularly throughout Southern California and has opened for Dave Attell, David Alan Grier and Andy Dick. His stated career ambition is to follow Louis CK and Bill Burr and become the next angry white guy to make it big. So, yes, he seems well adjusted.

What makes this weekend especially fun is the mix surrounding him. Ashley Chalease, Benny Garcia and Lena Stone each bring their own point of view to the microphone, which means you are not getting four comics trying to tell the same kind of joke for 90 minutes. You are getting four different people trying to convince a room full of strangers that the way they see the world is the correct way. Which is basically stand up comedy.

Friday and Saturday, August 28 and 29, 8 PM, Lestat’s, 3343 Adams Ave., San Diego, $5 cover, which converts to same day café credit.
